Boss gifts
After a boss is defeated, Halibut can hand over a fish. Most are fish from the vanilla fishing pool. One is a mod skill fish. Each gift has its own short scene.
When she shows up
Section titled “When she shows up”The kill itself records the gift, even if Halibut is not held at that moment. For her to appear, these also have to be true:
- First meeting is done
- You’re holding Halibut
- No boss is currently on the field
- You’re not in Boss Rush
Once those hold, she waits a couple of seconds before appearing. The fight can be cleaned up and the weapon swapped back into hand before she arrives. Each boss’s gift plays once. Kills during Boss Rush do not count and give nothing.

In the scenes she gives most of these fish a playful nickname that doesn’t match the actual item. She calls the Fishotron a “Skeletron Fish,” the Prismite a “Prismfish,” the Bloody Manowar a “Gore-fish,” and so on. The table lists what actually lands in your inventory.
The Calamitas Clone gift holds off while any Brimstone Witch scene is playing, then delivers once that scene ends.
The Aquatic Scourge seat still binds Aquatic Scourge and still gives a Prismite. Do not rewrite it as the Festersand Serpent. That seat belongs to Mayo and Shenyo.
Gei-Gei
Section titled “Gei-Gei”The Devourer of Gods seat still gives a Neon Tetra. A second scene can play after the same fight. It hands over no fish. It only says two lines.
Condition: this local player took at least 30 hits during this fight. The count is local, and it is only for this fight. When the Devourer’s head goes from absent to present, the count resets.
Result: after the fight, Halibut speaks. Official copy:
That battle was truly perilous.
But the records tell of a warrior from back then called Gei-Gei, who was far more terrifying.
The scene plays once. If the hit count is too low, it does not play and nothing extra is granted.
Underworld gift
Section titled “Underworld gift”This one isn’t tied to a boss kill. It needs Moon Lord down, Halibut in your inventory, and you standing in the Underworld.
| Conditions | Reward |
|---|---|
| Moon Lord defeated; Halibut in inventory; in the Underworld | Guide Voodoo Fish ×1 |
She complains about the heat, suggests digging through the sea floor to flood the place, then hands the fish over:
I have an idea. Let’s just dig through the sea floor and make this part of the ocean, too.
At first, I thought it was a guide for the hell-springs, but… it just looks like one.
Claimed once
Section titled “Claimed once”Every boss gift is recorded on its own and never replays. The Underworld gift and the Gei-Gei scene work the same way, one time only.
A few of the lines
Section titled “A few of the lines”Eye of Cthulhu
I found this in its… maw. Take it. A Cthulhu Fish. Just like its namesake… it doesn’t really follow logic.
Wall of Flesh
Found this Hungering Fish in the remains. It looks eternally starved.
Calamitas Clone
Back to business. A Brimstone Fish, picked from her embers. You can still hear it muttering nonsense if you hold it close.
Brimstone Witch
A Princessfish, born from her embers. It has a conflicting grace, like a flower blooming in ruins.
