Victor

Victor is the town Cyberware Doctor. His display name is Cyberware Doctor. The talk prompt says Talk to Victor. The clinic panel is titled VICTOR’S CLINIC.

He does not use vanilla town spawning. The first arrival is a rift that opens on the ground near you at night and delivers him. After that, if a house is free, he respawns like any town NPC.

When he arrives

He arrives once when all of the following are true:

• Night
• No boss is active
• You have defeated the Eye of Cthulhu, or you have already unlocked Hack Time
• You are not in a subworld
• This world has not received him yet

He does not need a free house first. The door lands on ground about 11 to 17 tiles from you.

Right-click him for a custom dialogue panel, not the vanilla chat box. The panel has Cyberware Clinic, Small Talk, and Leave.

Clinic

Buying, installing, and removing implants all happen at the clinic. Implants cannot be changed after leaving the clinic. Surgery steps live on Cyberware.

The clinic lists nine implants by body part. List price is three times the item sell value, then multiplied by a happiness coefficient. The talk panel and the clinic both show that coefficient as MOOD PRICE x plus two decimals, for example MOOD PRICE x1.00. Vanilla happiness usually keeps the coefficient between about 0.75 and 1.50.

Sandevistan Mk5 is the most expensive piece in the clinic. The CSTM Opti-Visual Cybereye is both a Hack Time access point and a RAM cap boost.

Mood

He loves the underground, likes snow, dislikes jungle, and hates the ocean. Among neighbors he loves the Mechanic, likes the Steampunker, dislikes the Nurse, and hates the Demolitionist. The Cyborg loves him. The Mechanic likes dealing with him. The Nurse dislikes him. TBUG dislikes his interest in putting her on the operating table. He likes TBUG as a research subject.

Without a house, the quote includes an open-air operating fee. When the shown coefficient is about 0.90 or lower, he describes the price as having been rounded down. At about 1.15 or higher, he attributes the increase to a risk surcharge for an unsteady scalpel.

Dialogue

When you right-click him, first meeting and a just-finished surgery always take priority. Otherwise he gathers lines that match the current situation, then uses one of those about 65% of the time. If that does not happen, he falls back to a generic greeting. The generic pool does not repeat a line in the same pass.

First meeting:

A new face. Let me guess - you’re not here for a doctor, you’re here for a miracle. Sit down, I sell both.

Welcome, customer. Three house rules: no credit, no questions about your past, and no critiquing my work.

After a successful surgery, the next talk is one of these:

The sutures are still warm. Don’t block any blades with the new parts for twenty-four hours.

The surgery went perfectly. Of course, mine always do.

How does it feel? Any rattling, current leaks or phantom pain, come straight back - repairs cost extra.

With no implants installed, he compares you to an old machine that has never had a firmware update. When remaining capacity is 2 or less, he says you will need a power upgrade before another install. If Sandevistan Mk5 is already on, he asks whether it is operating normally and warns that damaged nerves are billed as a full rebuild.

When life is below 30%, he tells the player to sit down first. With less than 1 gold, he does not offer credit. With at least 1 platinum, he asks what should be replaced, and says a full set is acceptable.

Progress uses only the highest tier. Before Hardmode he tells you to upgrade the body before the calamity upgrades itself. After the Wall of Flesh he says business tripled. After the Moon Lord he wants a share of a god’s remains. After Supreme Calamitas he suspects the chrome is just jewelry to you.

Blood moons, eclipses, rain, deep night (about 4 minutes 30 seconds after nightfall), the underground, snow, jungle, the coast, and Corruption or Crimson each add their own lines. Generic greetings mention that steel never betrays you, only your wallet; that both original eyes are uncommon; and that half the tray is sterile and the other half is worse.
