Three hunt commissions

All three commissions sit under the Brimstone Witch category in the commission tracker. Each one unlocks the next, in the order ① Providence → ② Devourer of Gods → ③ Yharon.

Every commission works the same way. You may only use the weapon the witch assigns, and that weapon has to do the bulk of the damage. Contribution here means the share of the target’s total damage taken that comes from that weapon and everything it fires. You have to push it past the set percentage for the kill to count. In practice the assigned weapon has to carry the whole boss on its own; splitting damage or swapping weapons drags the share down.

With the tracker focused, it shows your current weapon contribution against the required threshold in real time. If the target boss is not on the field yet, the tracker will first prompt you to summon it.

FieldValue
PrerequisitePallbearer received after Moon Lord
Assigned weaponPallbearer
TargetProvidence, the Profaned Goddess
Contribution80%
How to acceptConfirmation panel pops up while holding the Pallbearer

Holding the Pallbearer brings up a confirmation panel where you decide whether to take the job.

  • Accept: the commission goes active and the tracker starts counting.
  • Decline: the commission is not lost. It stays in the manager as suspended. To take it back later, open the Suspended tab and un-suspend it.

Kill Providence with enough Pallbearer contribution, and a few seconds later the witch appears to pay up:

SpeakerLine / Reward
Brimstone WitchWell done.
Brimstone WitchThis crossbow suits you.
Brimstone WitchYou’ve solved a problem for me.
Brimstone WitchAs a reward, these are yours.
RewardAshes of Annihilation ×199
Brimstone WitchAnd this blade. I need you to take it and kill that… worm. Don’t worry, the payment will be even more generous.
RewardHeartcarver ×1
Brimstone WitchI’ve imbued it with a portion of my Brimstone… ‘presence.’ It should make things easier for you.

Commission ② unlocks once this reward scene finishes.

FieldValue
PrerequisiteCommission ① complete
Assigned weaponHeartcarver
TargetThe Devourer of Gods (head, body, and tail all count)
Contribution80%
How to acceptConfirmation panel pops up while holding the Heartcarver

The Devourer of Gods counts as a single target across its head, body, and tail. Damage the Heartcarver deals to any segment all counts toward contribution.

After you hit the threshold with the Heartcarver and kill the Devourer of Gods, the witch settles up as usual, this time mentioning what she once used that blade for:

SpeakerLine / Reward
Brimstone WitchCleanly done.
Brimstone WitchThis blade… as satisfying as ever.
Brimstone WitchBack when I was still mortal, this is what I used to gouge out my master’s heart. It works well, doesn’t it?
Brimstone WitchTake it.
RewardOni Machete ×1
Brimstone WitchHave you ever considered… what you would do if, next time, my commission was for you to kill ME?
Brimstone WitchSuch a pity. You and he are fated never to meet. You two would have had… so much to talk about.
Halibut…I really can’t stand her.

After the reward scene, Halibut’s interference triggers a short while later. See Halibut · Halibut’s interference.

Prerequisite: Commission ② accepted, and not yet completed or declined. A few seconds after the Commission ② reward scene ends, Halibut cuts in.

Halibut stops you with her ocean-style dialogue box and, the moment she opens it, takes the Heartcarver out of your bag for the time being. She says everything the witch gives you feels off, that the blade sounds like someone snickering when you touch it, and that these all read like some kind of “conduit,” pleading with you to stop working for the witch. The first layer offers three attitudes:

OptionBranch
What are you doing?Calm talk
Hand it over!Confrontation
(Say nothing)Silence

The three branches converge into one final choice:

OptionResult
Continue the commissionThe Heartcarver is returned; Halibut says she will see it through with you
Stop the commissionThe Heartcarver is not returned; Commission ② closes; Halibut: “Let’s go. Let that witch go to hell.”

Full dialogue is on Halibut · Halibut’s interference.

Commission ③ Hunt the Incineration Dragon

Section titled “Commission ③ Hunt the Incineration Dragon”
FieldValue
PrerequisiteCommission ② complete
Assigned weaponOni Machete
TargetYharon
Contribution75%
How to acceptConfirmation panel pops up while holding the Oni Machete

This is the last of the three. Yharon’s contribution requirement drops to 75%, a little more forgiving than the first two.

Reach the threshold and kill Yharon with the Oni Machete, and the witch drops the mockery for once. She pays her respects to the dragon, hands over the last gift, then turns the subject on herself:

SpeakerLine / Reward
Brimstone WitchAh… it’s finally over.
Brimstone WitchTo me… that dragon… was one of the very few beings worthy of respect.
Brimstone WitchKnowing it would die, yet still choosing to stand its ground… Even if it’s revived by the Auric Soul, the one that returns is merely a copy.
Brimstone WitchA pity. It excelled at obedience, while you excel at… hm, surviving?
Brimstone WitchTake this. Auric Ingot. Once called the ‘Gold of Purgatory,’ it is the limit of power a mortal can touch.
RewardAuric Bar ×302
Brimstone WitchAnd now… it’s my turn.
RewardProverb ×1
HalibutWhat kind of joke is this…?

Once this reward scene finishes, the rewritten final-fight lines and the EBN route unlock. See Final fight & EBN.

ActionEffect
FocusThe left tracker shows contribution progress
SuspendHides it for now; a declined commission is also kept as suspended and can be un-suspended to accept again
Contribution too lowThe kill does not count; summon the target again and hit the required share with the assigned weapon

In the panel the three jobs are titled Commission: Hunt the Profaned Goddess, Commission: Hunt the Devourer of Gods, and Commission: Hunt the Incineration Dragon, matching the in-game commission titles.
