Every open eye feeds this meter

Halibut wields the eyes of the abyss. Every eye you open in the Abyssal Domain panel pushes a resurrection meter upward. That meter is the “resurrection problem” Halibut asks you to help solve, and filling it drags your character straight into the abyss.

The meter runs from 0 up to a cap, 100 at the start. Every open eye that isn’t in System Crashed state adds its own climb rate, and eyes opened later add more than the earlier ones. Eyes in System Crashed state add only a tiny amount, close enough to nothing.

Studying a new skill fish raises the cap by 15 and resets the current value to 0. Using the Encyclopedia of Oceanic Knowledge to unlock every remaining fish skill at once stacks this effect once per skill unlocked.

Next to the Abyssal Eye icon sits a vertical pressure gauge. The fluid level inside it tracks your current resurrection ratio, and it starts shaking noticeably past 70%. Hover the gauge for a detailed panel showing percentage, current value, speed, and a diagnosis line.

Speed falls into five tiers:

Percentage maps to five diagnosis lines:

0% – 25%The resurrection is still calm, the abyss remains silent.
25% – 50%Non-existent sounds of tides can be heard; extremities begin to feel cold.
50% – 70%Hallucinations intensify. The heavy pressure of the deep sea begins to press on the eyes and heart.
70% – 90%The logic of reality begins to collapse; your existence is being rewritten by something terrifying and cold.
90% – 100%The critical point has broken. Humanity is dissipating; you are about to become part of that sea of corpses.

Once the ratio reaches 70% and first meeting is done, a warning plays once automatically and force-closes every open eye. Full lines are on Branches & daily beats · Resurrection warning.

Once the meter hits its cap, your character runs through an uninterruptible sequence:

  1. About 1 second of warning: a roar plays and “The Abyss is consuming you…” appears on screen.
  2. About 3 seconds of death animation: your character is pulled downward, twists, fades out, and the camera cuts to an abyss-themed death shot.
  3. Your character actually dies, with the death message “died from Abyssal Resurrection.”

Death does not clear the meter. On respawn it settles at 80% of the cap instead, with “The mark of the Abyss still entwines you…” Death also force-closes every eye that wasn’t already System Crashed and resets climb speed to 0, but the value that already built up is untouched.

  • Causality Reset from Domain Skills: full heal, clears every buff and debuff, and zeroes the meter outright. Available from domain tier 5, 3 minute cooldown.
  • Studying a new skill fish: see “How the value climbs” above, which also zeroes the meter.
  • Just closing eyes: stops the meter from climbing further, but whatever already built up stays put.

Past 70%, avoid opening more eyes to chase tier. Use Causality Reset, or bank a fish for the research altar, before adding layers again. While your crash level is still low, open fewer eyes rather than pushing past 90%.
