TBUG

TBUG TBUG map icon

TBUG is the town Exploit Dealer. Her display name is Exploit Dealer. The talk prompt says Talk to TBUG. The shop panel is titled TBUG BUG MARKET.

She does not use vanilla town spawning. On the first arrival, a vertical seam opens at night and places her on the ground near the player. After that, if a house is free, she respawns like any town NPC.

She arrives once when all of the following are true:

  • Night
  • No boss is active
  • You have defeated Skeletron
  • You are not in a subworld
  • This world has not received her yet

She does not need a free house first. The seam lands on ground 11 to 17 tiles from you, a little higher than Victor’s door.

Right-click her for a custom dialogue panel, not the vanilla chat box. The panel has Hack Shop, Small Talk, and Leave.

List prices on the shelf are multiplied by a happiness coefficient. The talk panel shows that coefficient as PRICE x plus two decimals, for example PRICE x1.00.

Vanilla happiness usually keeps the coefficient between about 0.75 and 1.50. Her shop then clamps the multiplier to 0.50 through 2.00, and never charges less than 1 copper.

She loves the underground, likes snow, dislikes jungle, and hates the ocean. Among neighbors she loves the Mechanic, likes the Goblin Tinkerer, dislikes Victor, and hates the Tax Collector. Victor likes her as a research subject. The Mechanic likes talking circuits with her.

Without a house, vanilla happiness keeps her quotes higher. Providing a house usually lowers the coefficient by one step. When the shown coefficient is about 0.90 or lower, she describes the price as having dropped a step. At about 1.15 or higher, she attributes the increase to market conditions.

Every dawn the shop restocks the full list and picks two daily specials. Those two are 25% off the list price. Happiness still multiplies that sale price afterward. The buy strip marks them -25%, and the tip reads daily special, 25% off. Sold-out stock waits until the next dawn. The buy tab status line shows restock at dawn plus a minutes-and-seconds countdown to that dawn.

Stock is shared across the world. Restock caps follow list price: under 10 gold restocks 4, 10 to 19 gold restocks 3, 20 to 25 gold restocks 2, and 26 gold or more restocks 1. The two RAM chips restock 5 each.

The tables below are the shop list. How a write lands is on the Protocol Catalog and PvP Hacks. Chip pages live under Protocol Chips. RAM chips are on the RAM System.

Laboratory security chests currently do not drop protocol chips. They roll the two RAM upgrade chips instead.

These two can be bought and used more than once. A protocol chip cannot be used again after it has already written that protocol.

The shop also buys what you can sell from the bag. Left-click sells a single item. Right-click sells the entire stack.
