Onikiri
Legendary Weapon
Onikiri
“From today onward, please take good care of me!”
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Onikiri is a melee legendary weapon. Slashes ignore defense. Incoming damage reduction only counts as half.
It grows through 22 trial cuts. Max level is 22. Base damage starts at 12 and ends at 6002. The growth table adds 5% to 26% crit. Tooltip crit is about 17% at the start and about 38% at max.
The first time it is held, the game asks whether to take the lesson. Finishing it, or choosing Skip Tutorial during the lesson, both count as learned. Accepting or declining that opening ask leaves a Keiko Rune in the inventory. Use the rune to open the same lesson from the beginning; use it again while the lesson is running to put the lesson away. It will not open if Onikiri is not in the bag. Dialogue or a cutscene blocks the rune. The rune is not consumed.
Use it to open the Onikiri lesson from the beginning, or use it again mid-lesson to put the lesson away
Left with you when the opening lesson is declined; the rune is not consumed and may be used again
Trials register in Commissions. They register after you have the blade, Himura Mayo’s first meeting is done, and the lesson is finished or skipped. On old saves, a boss gift can fill the lesson gate. Full commission text is on Trials.
The Ghost Register hangs on this blade. While Onikiri is held, three of six wraiths can be seated.
This is not the Oni Machete.
Acquisition
Section titled “Acquisition”After the world generates, a crimson-bride torii stands near spawn, with the blade planted under it. There is no progress lock.
The prompt is [Right Click] Draw the blade. One inventory slot must be free. After the draw, that shrine hides for the current player. Other players who have not drawn it still see the sword.
Once the shrine leaves, Himura Mayo speaks.
Combat
Section titled “Combat”Hold left click for Crimson Rend. Five beats. Hold to keep cutting. Release to stop.
Wait about half a second and the next press starts from beat one. Each beat hits a given target once. A hit returns 2 vigor and adds 2.5 stance.
Two meters sit at the lower left while the blade is held: vigor and stance. Vigor caps at 100. After a spend, regen waits about 0.8 seconds, then returns about 6 per second. Stance caps at 100. 50 and full each unlock an execution.
If Onikiri: Kamui Flash Step is unbound, right click does the flash step. It costs 30 vigor and carries the wielder toward the cursor. Range grows from about 38 tiles to about 94. The first time a dash parries through an enemy, stance jumps by 12. For about 1.5 seconds after control returns, left click can fire a zanshin follow-up.
Sakura flight only works while the domain is stably in omote. At least 10 vigor is required. Hold the sakura key to fly as petals. Release or run dry to land. Holding the sakura key during a flash step can chain into the flight. Closed domain, a flip in progress, or ura: the key does nothing.
At 50 stance: press flash step twice within about one second, then left click for Annihilate.
At full stance: press Execute to lock a target, dash through, and finish with the finale dance. No lock if the cursor misses. A double flash step at full stance that hits an enemy also settles as the finale.
Domain
Section titled “Domain”Press Domain Expansion to open it. The first opening is the omote world: yellowed paper. Press again to close.
Left-click the domain eye at the lower left to open or close as well. Press Onikiri: Flip Domain, or right-click the eye, to flip between omote and ura. Ura is an ink underworld. Inputs do nothing while the world is still shifting. Flip while closed and the domain opens into omote first.
Flipping into ura leaves paper omokage on living things currently on screen. Flipping back to omote burns the papers.
Dismember only works in ura. Within about 50 tiles, put the cursor on a body or a paper, release left click, then press it again. A clean cut splits the target. The wielder takes true damage equal to one quarter of max life and freezes for a short beat. A miss falls back to the normal combo. In omote, left click is always the combo.
Keybinds
Section titled “Keybinds”Names match the keybind list in Settings. Defaults:
| Keybind name | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Onikiri: Kamui Flash Step | Unbound | Falls back to right click. Dash through |
| Onikiri: Sakura Flight | C | Hold in stable omote to fly as petals |
| Onikiri: Execute | F | At full stance, lock a target and finish with the finale |
| Domain Expansion | Q | Open or close the domain |
| Onikiri: Flip Domain (Omote/Ura) | Mouse 3 | Flip omote and ura |
| Legend Weapon: Toggle HUD | M | Opens the last workplace. First time defaults to the Inscription Stand |
| Self-Restart | H | The Crimson Bride’s procession, if she is on the sigil |
The Sealing Talisman at the lower left also opens the interface. The left plaque on the beam switches to the Sigil Wheel. The scroll under the wheel is the Ghost Register. It is read-only.
Inscriptions
Section titled “Inscriptions”Three seats: nakago, hi, and horimono. One inscription per seat. All three apply at once.
The blade leaves the torii with Onikiri on the nakago. That seat adds no extra effect and takes no extra cost. The other two start empty.
There are 36 inscriptions. Player names, effects, and sources are on Inscriptions.
Eight can be engraved as soon as the blade is drawn. The rest are Mayo gifts or blade-karma while Onikiri is held. Locked entries on the codex only show progress, not effects.
