Blood Lake & Ghost Dream
BLOOD LAKE
Kikasa
Blood Lake, Ghost Rain, Ghost Dream
Raise the Blood Lake
Section titled “Raise the Blood Lake”Hold Kikasa and press Domain Expansion (default Q). Blood water rises from the player’s feet.
Storing items, drowning foes, and driving sunken shades all require the lake to be open and the water to be full.
Hold Command the Tide (default X). The surface follows the cursor. Release to leave it at that height. The key does nothing before the lake is full.
Press Domain Expansion again to close the lake.
Drowning and lake storage
Section titled “Drowning and lake storage”Once the water reaches the player’s feet, press Sink Item into the Lake (default I).
Aimed at a foe, the target is pressed under. Ordinary enemies leave the field. That is not a kill, and they drop nothing. A boss this world has not beaten yet will not go under. The key lashes instead. A boss that is successfully drowned leaves a shade. That shade is a sunken shade.
A worm or other segmented foe sinks as one group. Pointing at a body segment and pointing at the head are the same drowning.
After this world has defeated the Moon Lord, drowning any of its parts takes the rest of that fight with it. The core, the head, the hands, the True Eyes, and the leeches all go under together. The lake does not take only the piece under the cursor. Parts that are invulnerable in combat still go under.
After they go under, leftover pieces of that Moon Lord, and any remaining death rays or phantasmal shots, are cleared. This drowning does not play the usual Moon Lord defeat sequence, so that sequence does not spawn more True Eyes.
Holding an item sinks it. Take it back from lake storage in the Lakeheart. Arms shades need their source piece in storage before they can form.
Cooldown is about 1.5 seconds. The target must be near the surface.
Lakeheart
Section titled “Lakeheart”Click the wind chime at the bottom left, or hold Kikasa and press Legend Weapon: Toggle HUD (default M).
The panel has four parts. The upper row is hounds and gold-flame. The middle three seats hold shades. The bottom is lake storage. The prayer rope is here as well.
Shades seated on the board come out on their own once the lake is open. Hold Radial Wheels (default B) to call or recall them one by one. The fewer shades afield, the harder each one hits. The hub issues a mass order: if any shade is out, recall all. If none are out, call all. Right-click only closes the wheel. Shades already out stay out.
The gold-flame sector lights and recalls ghost fire. Once lit, the fire spreads along the shore and scorches foes it touches. In Ghost Rain, ordinary ghost fire is doused. If a Flame shade and a Rain shade are both seated, it becomes a half-strength steam boil instead.
Ghost Rain
Section titled “Ghost Rain”At full water, tap Flip the Lake (default middle mouse). The Blood Lake flips into Ghost Rain. Tap again to flip back. Closing the domain returns the domain to Blood Lake.
Foes slain in Ghost Rain rise as umbrella thralls and fight for the owner. The cap starts at 5. Each Rain shade adds 1, up to 8. Conversion is about one every 0.5 seconds. More Rain shades shorten the gap.
While the flip is still rolling, drowning, lake storage, and ghost fire wait until the lake settles.
Ghost Dream
Section titled “Ghost Dream”At full water, hold Flip the Lake for about 0.5 seconds. The player enters Ghost Dream. The hounds in the Lakeheart can also be clicked to enter.
This is an overlay on the current world, not another map. The player stays where they were standing.
Rules in the dream:
- Enemies that walk into the dream are helpless
- Ranged projectiles cannot exist
- Items and building are sealed
- Hold left-click to keep calling hounds
- Talismans do not apply. Only the hounds’ bites count, and those bites ignore armor
Hounds afield start at a cap of 4. Each Nightmare shade adds 2. When over cap, the oldest hound fades first.
With no Nightmare shade seated, bite damage is 78% of Kikasa’s current damage. Each Nightmare shade adds 22%. With one Nightmare shade seated, the bite matches Kikasa’s current damage.
Each hound lasts about 5 seconds, then dissolves back into the dream. There is no bite while a hound is still forming, or while it is dissolving into mist. Press Flip the Lake again to wake. The lake water comes back.
Holding during a water rise or during a flip will not enter the dream, and will not flip into Ghost Rain.
Wide-area restart
Section titled “Wide-area restart”Hold Kikasa and press Self-Restart (default H). The domain does not need to be open.
The screen freezes as a black-and-white photo, then rain-scratches wash it open. Foes within about a screen and a half, and the caster, rewind about 10 seconds. Debuffs rinse first, then life and mana refill. The caster is invincible through the rewind. About 1 second of invincibility remains after it ends. Cooldown is 60 seconds.
If the domain was not already in Ghost Rain, the skill briefly enters Ghost Rain. When it settles, the rain leaves and the domain returns to how it was before the key.
The skill cannot be used during a Blood Lake flip, or during a Ghost Dream transition.
Domain teleport
Section titled “Domain teleport”Hold Kikasa and press Domain Teleport (default G). The domain does not need to be open. The umbrella enters a pool. The player appears from the water at the cursor.
If the Blood Lake is already open and full, the cast is faster. Cooldown is about 1.5 seconds. Otherwise about 4 seconds. A cursor that is too close does nothing. Teleport cannot be used during a flip or inside Ghost Dream.
Shade affinities
Section titled “Shade affinities”Each shade carries a line. Flame feeds ghost fire. Nightmare feeds the hounds. Rain feeds thralls. Arms shades take a seat and do not mark an affinity. The Lunatic Cultist shade is wild and can stand in for any line.
Flame and Nightmare seated together put burn on the hounds’ teeth. Flame and Rain seated together stop Ghost Rain from dousing the fire. Nightmare and Rain seated together speed thrall conversion. Three seats filled with all three lines raise shade damage by about 15%.
