Fish-oil commission

Once you’ve built up a stock of common fish, Halibut pitches a small experiment. Bring her 300 fish of the right kinds and she’ll refine them into Fish Oil.

Getting the offer

Three things have to be true first: first meeting is done, Queen Bee is defeated, and you’ve never accepted or declined this line before.

With all that in place, the game keeps an eye on your inventory. As soon as eligible fish add up to 10, she picks a quiet moment (no boss, no invasion) and comes to find you:

You seem to have caught a fair amount of common fish recently. Give me some for my research, and I can refine them into a bottle of fresh fish oil. The process isn’t difficult, just… tedious. This fish oil has potential. It’s more useful than you might think. Interested?

Reaching 10 fish is only the threshold that gets her talking. The actual quota is 300.

Which fish count

Twelve fish count toward the total, stacks included:

Bass, Trout, Salmon, Tuna, Red Snapper, Neon Tetra, Damselfish, Armored Cavefish, Hemopiranha, Ebonkoi, Specular Fish, Prismite.

Building up to 300

After you accept, the commission starts out tracked. The tracker on the left keeps a running count of how many fish you still need.

Counting looks at your inventory and the stack held on your cursor, so you don’t have to drop a stack back into a slot while you sort.

When you hit the quota, the tracker reads: “Fish collected. Please focus on the quest to submit.”

Handing them in

With 300 or more on hand, and the commission tracked or active (not suspended), Halibut comes to ask:

Hmm, you’ve collected enough fish. Just enough for me to extract a bottle of fish oil. Are you going to hand them over to me?

Sure, take them.	300 eligible fish are consumed, the reward pops up, and the commission completes
Let me think about it.	Nothing is handed over; a Submit Fish button appears on the tracker so you can reopen the conversation later

If your count has slipped below 300 the instant you confirm, she says “Hmm? It seems you don’t have enough fish. Go catch some more and come back,” and nothing is consumed.

If you put it off, she says “Alright, come find me whenever you’ve made up your mind.”

Reward

On a successful hand-in she says “Excellent, just a moment… Here you go, a fresh bottle of fish oil,” and you actually receive 5 Fish Oil. The commission can’t be repeated. If she comes by afterward, all you get is: “I’ve already given you the fish oil. If you want more, you’ll have to wait until next time.”
