Overview
Section titled “Overview”The MG42 is a post-Moon Lord machine gun clearly modeled on its real-world namesake. It forces loaded Musket Balls into Nitrated Bullets and builds heat while you hold fire—the longer the burst, the hotter the barrel, the bigger the bullets, and the redder the gun sprite.

Combat Behavior
Section titled “Combat Behavior”Hold left click to spray. Each shot adds +0.4 heat; heat decays slowly while you stop firing, capped at 16:
- Heat > 10: Nitrated Bullets render 2× larger with wider hitboxes
- Heat > 10: The barrel randomly vents smoke particles
- Higher heat tints the barrel redder, showing how hot the gun is running
Every Nitrated Bullet carries +20 armor penetration.
How to Obtain
Section titled “How to Obtain”Requires Calamity. Guaranteed from the Treasure Box (Exo Mechs) after Thanatos has been defeated. Thanatos itself does not drop it directly.
