Overview
Section titled “Overview”Proverb is a story-driven Brimstone accessory from the Brimstone Witch arc. While equipped, a Brimstone array opens behind the player. You become immune to On Fire!, Hellfire, and Vulnerability Hex, and every hit you deal applies 5 seconds of Vulnerability Hex: melee, ranged, magic, summon, rogue, and projectile hits all count. The official tooltip calls that debuff Withered Curse.

Effects
Section titled “Effects”- Passive immunity: On Fire!, Hellfire, Vulnerability Hex
- On hit: applies 5 seconds of Vulnerability Hex
- Exclusive: ×2 damage vs Brimstone Witch
- Risk: while worn, Brimstone Witch attacks have a 1/3 chance to deal ×10 lethal damage (her body or projectiles)
- Array: a Brimstone array opens behind the player. The array deals contact damage to enemies inside it. Base damage is 3000 and scales with generic damage bonuses. The usual radius is about 14 tiles. Hits from the array also apply about 5 seconds of Vulnerability Hex. Hiding this appearance in the equipment UI collapses the array and stops the contact damage. After EBN, if the accessory is still worn, the radius grows to about 39 tiles
Hidden Story
Section titled “Hidden Story”“If you are reading this, then I am likely already gone. Throughout my long years, this ring was the only thing that felt truly cold. But somewhere along the way, it absorbed a mortal’s warmth… and became… too hot to let go. I have returned to the Brimstone, reduced to the ashes of an era. I should have departed with nothing, yet I found myself greedy for this singular warmth, wishing to preserve it. Wear it. And when you finally raise your blade against the gods… Know that even if the world freezes over, I will still be burning at your fingertips.”
After EBN, the tooltip line that used to describe double damage is replaced by the passage above, and its color shifts from dark red to warm orange. While the accessory is worn, the double damage against the Brimstone Witch and the one-in-three chance that her hits deal tenfold damage still apply.
