The four blocks below are the rubbing text.

Rubbing

Blade hits grant extra vigor; natural vigor recovery greatly slowed and recovery delay increased

Power

"Bloodflow": the first hit of each basic combo beat restores 1 extra vigor Zanshin strikes following a Kamui Flash Step restore 4 extra vigor on hit

Burden

Natural vigor recovery speed reduced by 35%, skills consuming vigor require an additional 0.3s delay before natural recovery begins

Origin

The blood groove carved into the steel is deep and resolute. The smith declared upon completion that this channel is cut for warm blood: the more it bathes in blood, the swifter the wielder's breath returns

The first hit of each combo beat already returns 2 vigor. Chi-hi adds 1, for 3 total. A second target on the same beat adds nothing.

The first hit of each Zanshin swing returns 4. An empty-seat Zanshin returns no vigor on its own. The rubbing says “an extra 4.” That 4 is the whole grant, not a stack on another base. Combo and Zanshin first hits credit at once. They do not wait for idle regen.

Annihilating Flash, Finale, and a flash-step parry do not use these grants. Ink-brand bursts add nothing either.

Natural regen is ×0.65, about 3.9 per second. An empty seat is about 6. The wait after a spend is about 0.3 seconds longer: about 0.8 seconds empty, about 1.1 with Chi-hi. Spending on a dash or cruising on sakura retriggers that wait. Flow marks on the blade are visuals only.

After Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu, Himura Mayo also hands another rubbing. That is only a spare copy.
