Origin
The carver chiseled the seed syllable "Kan" into the steel, reverently inscribing Fudo Myoo backed by blazing flames. Taken from the Immovable One's vow: through raging storms, sitting unmoved as a mountain
Fudo is a horimono carving on the blade face. It cannot share the seat with Shibori.
While a Zanshin, Annihilating Flash, or Finale Slash projectile is still up, or while beats four and five of a Crimson Rend combo are still in their damage window (including about 0.1 seconds after that window ends), a hit from a hostile projectile or a damaging foe can trigger the guard. The trigger spends 20 stance, multiplies that hit’s final damage by 65% and its knockback by 25%, then starts a 2.5-second internal cooldown. Below 20 stance the hit lands in full.
Everyday combo and Zanshin stance gain is multiplied by 0.85. A combo beat’s first hit falls from 2.5 to about 2.1. The first dash parry falls from 12 to about 10.2. The carving lights when stance is enough and the cooldown is clear. If a False Body decoy will take the hit first, the guard does not fire and stance is not spent.
Beats one through three, standing still, a dash, and Sakura Flight sit outside the window. Environmental damage, falling objects, dismemberment backlash, and hits during the backlash lock are never guarded.
The rubbing’s power line names Zanshin, Annihilating Flash, and Finale only. The last two combo beats are guarded in combat. That in-game sentence is incomplete.
