Kamui Flash Step leaves scorching ground along its path; weapon base damage -4%
Power
"Scorch Trail": Kamui Flash Step leaves up to 5 scorching zones lasting 1.5s along its path Enemies stepping into scorched ground take continuous burn damage equal to 14% of weapon base damage every 0.5s New burns overlapping within 2 tiles of older ones simply refresh the duration
Burden
Weapon base damage reduced by 4%, lost output must be recouped through scorch trails
Origin
The smith dwelt beside lava shallows, watching those who failed to mind their footing. He opened this fire groove to leap clear, leaving the searing heat behind for pursuers
The whole blade is ×0.96. Combo, Zanshin, big arts, and ink brands all lose 4%.
Each Kamui Flash Step samples along its path. Execution dashes count. One dash can drop at most five burns. Two burns need about 4 tiles between them. On a longer dash the spacing splits the path into five equal parts.
A burn only appears if solid ground is found underfoot. Passing through air with no ground within about 14 tiles below skips that sample and does not use one of the five slots. A new pit within about 2 tiles of an old one only refreshes lifetime. It does not stack.
Each pit burns for about 1.5 seconds. Foes standing in it take a hit about every 0.5 seconds for 14% of a blade hit. All pits share that half-second gap: five pits around one foe do not tick five times as often. The first ~0.07 seconds and the last ~0.1 seconds deal no damage. Burn damage uses weapon damage from the moment the pit dropped, and ignores the 4%.
Standing still and slashing pays the full 4% and plants nothing. Short dashes often fail to place all five.
