Rubbing

Completing a five-beat combo mid-air turns the finisher into a ground slam dragging foes; cannot dash briefly after landing

Power

"Nue-Dive": completing the basic combo at least 3 tiles off the ground turns the fifth beat into a powerful groundward dive The impact generates a shockwave roughly 12 tiles in radius, dealing 120% of weapon base damage and dragging nearby foes toward the impact

Burden

Cannot use Kamui Flash Step for about 0.7s after landing; ground swings retain the standard horizontal fifth beat

Origin

Ominous clouds gathered over the palace as the beast Nue wailed in the night. Minamoto no Yorimasa drew his bow to fell the beast, drawing his blade downward in its fall to slay it, taking that very plunging force

Nue-kiri replaces an airborne beat five with a dive. Finish five beats at least about 3 tiles off the ground, and beat five no longer swings a wide arc. The body dives at the ground instead. On the ground, on a mount, or under reversed gravity, beat five stays a normal beat five.

The start hangs in the air for about 0.1 seconds. During the dive, vertical speed is taken over. Left and right can still steer a little. The dive lasts up to about 0.67 seconds, then forces a landing. Two ground cuts land left and right of the impact, totaling 120% of a blade hit. Non-boss foes that can still be knocked back are pulled toward the impact within about 12 tiles. The landing pops the wielder up a little and cuts most horizontal speed. Dashing is locked for about 0.67 seconds after landing.

If height is too low and five beats still finish, beat five stays a normal arc. The nakago holds one inscription. Shishi-no-ko, Ikiai, and Rai-kiri also sit on beat five and cannot share the seat. Sora-hi’s extra air dash can help reach the height. The landing regen lock and this recovery lock are two separate locks and can overlap.

Blade-karma: at night, rise at least 30 tiles off the ground, and cut a flying foe while holding Onikiri (no gravity, or able to pass tiles and currently moving vertically). Ownership comes after that.
