Blade-karma

Slay any boss while holding Onikiri under an open sky during a thunderstorm

The four blocks below are the rubbing text.

Rubbing

Fifth beat and arts call heavenly lightning under open sky; combo interval +6%, cannot call lightning under ceilings

Power

"Thunder-Cut": when the fifth combo beat, Zanshin strike, Annihilating Flash, or Finale Slash hits an enemy under an open sky, calls down a thunder pillar onto the target The lightning pillar deals 70% of weapon base damage; in thunderstorms, up to 3 lightning pillars are called down per strike

Burden

Basic combo attack interval extended by 6% (active in clear weather too); blocked overhead or underground cannot call lightning

Origin

Tachibana Dosetsu sheltered from rain beneath a tree when lightning struck; Dosetsu drew his blade and cleaved the lightning bolt, miraculously surviving. His sword was renamed Raikiri, renowned across all provinces

Rai-kiri adds lightning to big arts while outdoors. When Zanshin, Annihilating Flash, or Finale Slash hits, the game checks upward from the target. If the sky is open, a bolt drops for 70% of a blade hit.

In a thunderstorm (raining, and wind speed at least 0.4 absolute), one action can drop up to three bolts. The pillars are wider and sit about 5 tiles apart. On a clear day a big art drops one bolt. In a thunderstorm, a hit on beat five of a full combo also drops lightning. Beat five does nothing on a clear day, or in ordinary rain with weak wind. The rubbing says “beat five and big arts.” Beat five still needs the storm.

The upward check reaches 64 tiles. A solid brick counts as indoor and cancels the bolt. Platform tiles that can be stood on but do not block do not count as cover. Walls do not block combat lightning. The same action will not drop another bolt for about 0.4 seconds, so a multi-hit string cannot become a curtain. The pillar only deals damage for about 0.13 seconds before the main discharge, and it pierces along a vertical band.

Swing interval is ×1.06. That applies on clear days and indoors. The nakago holds one inscription. Shishi-no-ko, Ikiai, and Nue-kiri cannot share the seat. When Planted Step boosts a big art or beat five, the bolt still uses 70% of weapon damage and ignores that bonus.

Blade-karma: during a thunderstorm, above the surface line, with open sky (the karma also requires no walls, beyond the combat check), cut a boss-tier foe while holding Onikiri. Ownership comes after that.
