Rubbing
Flash Step cancelling a combo leaves a delayed echo slash in place; damage taken +6% while held and stacks dash vigor cost
Power
"Guilt Echo": using Kamui Flash Step to cancel the current combo leaves the interrupted swing behind as an echo After a short delay it strikes in place, dealing damage equal to 35% of weapon base damage
Burden
Damage taken while holding this blade increased by 6% Each Guilt Echo stacks 1 layer of "Guilt" (up to 3), each layer making the next Flash Step cost 4 more vigor Landing a follow-up Zanshin strike after a dash clears all Guilt
Origin
Two treasured Minamoto blades were tested edge against edge; this blade's edge proved too sharp, cleaving its companion clean in two. Renamed Tomokiri for slaying its fellow blade, its temperament grew ever more violent
Tomokiri leaves the canceled beat in place. Interrupt an active combo with Kamui Flash Step and about 0.1 seconds later it bites on its own for 35% of a blade hit. The anchor is the nearest slash still alive. In the gap between beats, it falls back to the position and aim from that moment.
Each echo adds one stack of Guilt, up to three. The next paid normal dash costs 4 extra vigor per stack. A Zanshin hit clears all three at once. Guilt echoes are secondary cleaves. They do not restore vigor or add stance.
While the blade is held, incoming damage is +6%. That lasts the whole hold, not only the frame of a hit. Dismember backlash is a fixed contract and does not take this multiplier. A normal dash costs 30. At three Guilt stacks the next normal dash is 30 + 12 = 42. Execution dashes do not use this vigor book.
A standing five-beat combo never leaves an echo. It only wears the +6%. Dash often and miss Zanshin, and vigor gets taxed stack by stack. Tomokiri and Karikiri both claim the dash start, so they cannot share the nakago. Kaze-hi lowers the dash base. Guilt’s +4 is added after that and cannot be discounted. Chi-hi’s Zanshin vigor return and the Guilt clear can happen on the same swing.
Comes with the blade and can be engraved immediately. Mayo also hands a rubbing after Wall of Flesh. The codex still lists it as owned from the start.
