Rubbing
Ink brands from a single dash detonate and connect lines; single ink brand base damage -30%
Power
"Mark-Stitch": multiple ink brands left from a single Kamui Flash Step detonate together, forming intersecting cutting lines between one another, each dealing 35% of weapon base damage
Burden
Single ink brand base damage reduced by 30% (if a dash passes through only one target, overall damage is reduced)
Origin
Bookbinders stitch loose leaves with needle and thread, pulling tight to bind loose sheets into a volume. This groove treats ink brands as stitches, closing the circle into a killing array
Each ink brand is ×0.70. An empty seat settles brands at 65% of weapon damage, about 45.5% after Tsuzuri-hi. Combo and big arts do not take that 30%.
Brands from the same dash burst together on the sheath beat. About 0.05 seconds later the points are gathered. Two or more brands then link. They sort left to right so the line does not knot itself. At most six brands become anchors. A dash can hang up to 24 brands. Extras still burst, but they stay off this chain. A single brand makes no line, only a weaker solo brand. Execution dashes also hang brands and can link.
The line hangs so it can be seen, then tightens, then cuts. The cut is brief. Each body a segment touches takes the hit once. Each segment uses 35% of weapon damage and ignores the 30% brand cut. The chain is open, not a closed net: it cuts foes on the segments, not the empty space they enclose.
Piercing only one foe makes the 30% brand cut a net loss. A line of brands along a path is what pays that 30% back.
